Shiratakijinja Mikoshi's Falls

You can experience waterfall entry with MIKOSHI which is rare in Japan. An Annual Festival at Shirataki Shrine is held on August 1st. Men dressed in white parade through the street and enter the waterfall with carrying Mikoshi, a portable shrine. This sacred festival is to wish for huge harvest, good catch of fish, safety of marine transportation and home. It is unique Shinto ritual to bath Mikoshi in the waterfall around Japan. You’ll be strongly moved this fascinating event!
