KAMAISHI ‐ MATSURI

You can experience MIKOSHI mixed with locals. The festival held in Ozaki Shrine and Yama Shrine are commonly called “Kamaishi Matsuri”. Kamaishi is famous for iron industry and both shrines are the guardian god of Kamaishi Iron Mill. Hikifuna, to bring God to the temple in the city from the Ozaki Peninsula by boat, is held on Saturday. More than 10 ships carrying Toramai (tiger dance) and Kagura (Shinto theatrical dance) parade around the bay. They also carry Tairyobata, flags praying for good catch of fish, lively. On Sunday, the parade moves down the street in the central city.
